Hi there just wondering if 125,000 miles is a lot on a 2008 2.0 TDCI mondeo engine. It has a full main dealer FORD service history and looks well looked after.

Just wondering if it would be a good buy, I wouldn't be doing huge mileage in it. It is an estate and comes with the Titanium X spec

    Thanks

How much? If anything them 2.0 and 1.6TDCI's are nearly bullet proof!

If you're going to use it to do mostly town driving, these have a DPF and a DMF, and neither takes kindly to a lot of urban driving. Both are expensive to repair if they fail.

If you're going to use it for mostly out of town driving, I would not be put off by the mileage - do check to see if the DMF has been changed though - at that kind of mileage if it hasn't gone yet it will go soon.

If the DMF has been changed fairly recently, and you're going to mainly use it for out of town driving, then go for it, the Mondeo is a really superb car and the Titanium X has a fantastic spec.

Cheers for the replies lads, it is advertised at £5250, a lot of car at this price.

Captainspeed sorry not very mechanically minded, could you tell me what a DPF and a DMF are cheers.

Also says in spec the the CO2 emissions are 139 g/km so would this fall into the category B band of tax

    2008 mondeo 2.0 TDCI is 156 CO2, not 139!

    DMF - Dual Mass Flywheel
    DPF - Diesel Particulate Filter

The DMF is expensive to replace,it can run into 4 figures I believe, not so much for the part itself but for the labour as it's quite difficult to get to. I've got a Mondeo 2.0 TDCI (2005 model) myself and at 90000 miles it hasn't gone yet - touch wood - there is no guarantee that it would ever happen as plenty of people seem to do huge mileage without it arising but it is something to be aware of.

Personally, I love the Mondeo, but most of my driving is on motorways and I wouldn't buy it if I just wanted a town car, would definitely go for something smaller and probably a petrol engine.

That's the current engine which only came in last year iirc. 99% certain 08 is 156.

2008 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi manual costs €447 to tax per year. The auto costs €630. You have to go up to late 2009 before Ford dropped the emmissions on the 2.0 TDCi in order to make it Euro 5 compliant.

Anyway the Co2 rating will be listed on the car's V5 registration document. This is what Revenue will go by.
