    PM sent about same.

Actually mods, if you could lock this thread it wouldn't be a bad move as it could get very volatile; I can explain same in PM if need be.

Anybody know what all the fuss is about? Over on IRN they are getting very excited: http://irnirishrailwaynews.yuku.com/topic/2315/Sunday-World-Article-June26th

PM me if you would rather not post about it here.
From the tone of their comment on the article it MAY be about criminal involvement within the RPSI but I did not read the Sunday world so don't know!

Your not the only one who can explain what the fuss is about. However, until the thread does get volatile, why lock it?

I would like to generally echo the sentiments expressed in the IRN post.

Do not discuss anything that is sub-judice.

I'm not into discussing the internal matters of other websites or groups, but I've no particular problem with matter of public record being discussed.

Any inappropriate posts will be dealt with harshly.

Is the story available on the DM site. I had a look but it's awful and hard to search through

I was wondering about that too. Surely, all the cloak and dagger stuff actually reflects worse on the RPSI because it makes it look like they have something to hide.

If anyone wishes to PM me I'd appreciate it because the mind just boggles at the moment.

If a case is sub judice, then nobody should really be commenting on it until a verdict is given.

for everyone else wondering just what sub judice actually means:

In law, sub judice, Latin for "under judgment", means that a particular case or matter is currently under trial or being considered by a judge or court. The term may be used synonymously with "the present case" or "the case at bar" by some lawyers.

In England and Wales, Ireland,[1] New Zealand, Australia, India, Pakistan, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Israel it is generally considered inappropriate to comment publicly on cases sub judice, which can be an offence in itself, leading to contempt of court proceedings. This is particularly true in criminal cases, where publicly discussing cases sub judice may constitute interference with due process.

In English law, the term was correctly used to describe material which would prejudice court proceedings by publication before 1981. Sub judice is now irrelevant to journalists because of the introduction of the Contempt of Court Act 1981. Under Section 2 of the Act, a substantial risk of serious prejudice can only be created by a media report when proceedings are active. Proceedings become active when there's an arrest, oral charge, issue of a warrant, or a summons.

I think what we really need here is an explanation in terms of whats actually going on. I can't cast any judgement and I don't have a link to any Sunday World article. However the story concerns RPSI members that have been investigated in relation to child pornography. The story unfolded last year, when a certain member of the RPSI died.

    http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sunday-life/child-porn-suspect-found-dead-14825850.html

The above is a matter of public record and Irwin Pryce was a member of the RPSI.
