Double wanted for test paddle

I'm thinking of getting a double sit-on-top so I can take my nine-year-old young-fellah on trips. I have a couple of singles but he just can't manage more than splashing about. Does anyone know where I might beg/borrow/rent a double for a trial run? I'm in Galway. Thanks
