A curiosity inspired by something i saw when visiting a friend in housing estate. Therr is a 6 foot fence at back butnext door have a trampoline which means kids on it can see over. Is there a right to privacy in your garden.should the trampoliners have asked for permission

Its a question of balancing on the hierarchy of rights the right to privacy versus the right to fun filled elasticated canvas madness.

The European Human Court of Rights ruled on this recently stating

"we don't know and we don't care. Seriously. Oh all right if you must know we reckon that if kids jumping on a trampoline can see over a wall an adult could probably see over it standing on the ground, or at least from an upstairs window. Look we have lots of big important stuff to work out now go away. By the way, this privacy thing is getting out of hand."

If your wife went to the garden topless bathing and the fat sleazeball next door kept popping up and down and slavering at the mouth while staring at her mid boing, would you find it objectionable?By the way,can you tell her its sunny outside!

I would imagine it's hard to please yourself while bouncing up and down on a trampoline. More likely this fatty would be upstairs in his own house in relative comfort.

Just be a man about it.

Chuck a flymo at him or something.

As the structure is temporary in nature, it is unlikely that an erection of its nature (for recreational use and non permanent) would require permission, planning or otherwise.

If the structure is erected and fixed in a manner that openly allows the neighbours unrestricted viewing, well then a complaint could be made. If the viewing was/is in the course of bouncing, perhaps not.

    Tom
