Just back from the NCT centre. Car failed because the chassis number did not match the number shown on the log book. It appears to be a simple administration error. The last three digits should have read ex: 865 but read 8655. Therefore there is 18 numbers on the log book instead of 17. Is it a big problem to get the Dept. Of Transport to sort this out? What's involved?

Car was bought privately with previous NCT cert also showing a 18 digit number.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just give the crowd in Shannon a ring

and ask what's the quickest way to sort this out.
They will probably tell you to post in the Reg cert with a cover note and will send out a replacement cert.
Not really much point arguing with the NCT shower as they are now a different contractor and will simply blame the last gang for passing the car last time.
