So the misses needs a new car

    budget of about 3k cash + 1.4 2002 206 to trade in.

Needs to fit 2 car seat in the back, ideally Diesel, not to high road tax, low maintenace.

thoughts so far are the focus, 307, saab 93. any body got any recomodations?

    thanks in advance

I drive a 1.4 petrol focus but have driven a 1.6 Diesel Focus on rental with work on quite a few occasions and love them (Focus's I mean)!

Really nifty, great size on the inside (everyone comments getting in how much room there is in the front passenger seats etc) and the boot is huge! I've moved house 3 times with my Focus and you would be amazed what you can get into them!.

The diesel 1.6 Focus is really nifty, quiet and has a great bit of poke... my next car is definitely going to be one of them.

The Saab is a big 2 litre job is it not? And the styling is hideous.

Focus gets my vote. I have the 4 door saloon myself, but the 5 door would be ideal.

You get a lot of bang for your buck. They're comfortable and reliable. Fun to drive, handle well. Modern styling.

Get a nice trim level if you can, like a Ghia. It's not just the nice alloy wheels, but a handful of extra touches such as fog lamps, trip computer, aircon, rear electric windows, etc etc...

It might take a few days, but you would be much better off selling the current car privately first if possible. Take some decent pictures and stick it on Done Deal for a couple of hundred more than you think it's worth.

    my 2 cents
