    Good for him

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Chances are he'll never get a game anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

He'll get a couple of meaningless end of season international appearances as a sub for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

    Just want to say meh.

    That is all.

Grand. So long as he doesn't say he wants to play for Ireland in two years time when he still doesn't have an England cap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,594 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Fair play to him to be honest, he's choosing the much tougher route of trying to play for the national team he really feels an affinity for, rather than one he would have a much better chance of forcing his way into.

im glad, dont want the likes of him.hes a good player but he pissed about too long ,you either want to play for Ireland or you dont.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

he thinks he's actually gonna get a meaningful game for engerlund????

i can't fault the lad's ambition if not his sense of self-importance. . .maybe it will get gigg's mug off the front of every red top over here. . .

    . . .nah

And do a Clinton Morrisson ya mean?

I'd of liked to see him play for us. Decent player who's alot better than what we are currently playing in central midfield.

Don't think he will have an England career tbh but it's the right decision. He always said he wanted to play for England first so this at least puts and end to the situation.

My guess is within three years he will declare for Ireland.

Although England don't have a huge abundance of quality CM's coming through at the moment, minus Wilshere.

Fabio Capello must be delighted :D

Lol,big Mick probably tried talking him in to playing for Ireland and thats why he chose England!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,883 ✭✭✭smokedeels

He'll come crawling back in about five years having been ignored by England.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

Shame, IMO. He's a good player and would have added a lot to our relatively small pool of decent players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,450 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Wrong decision by O'Hara as far as the haters are concerned. If he had chosen Ireland this thread would have over 100 posts with a lot like...
We don't want him, he is just a failure who couldn't get a game for England
He doesn't deserve to wear the green only making his mind up this late in his career.
I'd rather have an Irish lad in there than someone who is only using us for his own benefits.

Jaysus, that "Random Hater" poster must be pisssssssssshed off, two other posters just taking his/her name and adding a number to it at the end:pac::pac::pac:

    These things happen, no worries.

He must have watched the field of dreams and just "believed" im delighted because id rather have someone want to play for ireland from the start like kilbane did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,276 ✭✭✭IRISHSPORTSGUY

He probably would have been too attack-minded for Trap's liking anyway.

Eh? I don't remember Morrison hedging his bets that way... didn't he declare for Ireland very early, I'm fairly sure he had a few games with the under 21s.

He's a bit better than what we have there at the moment, but not anything to get too upset about. Wait until he's 29 and still uncapped, he might reconsider his options then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,721 ✭✭✭Al Capwned

Dunno if he would have gotten a game, given trappatoni's penchant for 'destructive' cm's.... Would have been nice to have him as an option though...

THAT PUTS AND END TO THAT SO

if by that you mean his international career, i agree

Would have liked O'Hara to want to declare for us... he is a good midfielder, works hard and can get a goal - he would have added a lot to our midfield options. But he wants to play for England and I've no problem with that. I respect him for following his heart and not taking the easy option to play international football.

True, but no better than the players we have available. Its just that Trap tends not to pick them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,889 ✭✭✭tolosenc

Meh. Wouldn't really fit our style of play, and certainly his dedication would be called in to question.

Wasn't following the story but assuming that he doesn't switch back to Ireland when/if he doesn't make it, he has to applauded for trying to play for his country especially if it's probably a pipe dream.

Wouldn't surprise me if he gets a few caps if he can get back to the form he showed at Portsmouth in 09/10. Gerrard & Lampard are getting close to running on empty, Barry & Carrick aren't far behind and it's a position where England are probably light in terms of back-up.

He made his decision and it's his choice. I've no problem with that. We've a few options in midfield already if the players will show an interest in playing. Wolves have a good player in O'Hara though but he doesn't want to play so that's the end of it I guess.
