Ford Mondeo Vibration Problem

    Hi,

My wife has a 2007 MK4 Ford Mondeo Zetec. I have been using the car more recently and I have noticed that when the car gets to approx 1800 - 2000rpm there is an annoying rattle coming from behind the dashboard behind the dials. I have had it serviced and tyres balanced etc but no difference. It is driving me nuts. Has anybody any ideas about what it could be?

Does it make a different sound when you press in and out the clutch? If yours is a 1.8 diesel they give dual mass trouble around the 100k mark.

Yeah its a 1.8. The sound disappears when i shift gear but obviously starts again.

    :(

Drive it and press the clutch in for a few seconds(you can't damage anything) if the sound goes away its a safe bet to say the dual mass flywheel is gone. They are the worst ever for dual mass flywheels out of any car, on the 1.8TCDI only.

Thanks guys. I will try this out. I just want to get to the bottom of it and get it fixed.
