I have recently acquired an HTC Wildfire.
I am a completely vanilla virgin new to Smart phones. (Android or iPhones)
I am trying to come to terms with the terminology and to understand how the Apps stores work and am struggling.

I just have a couple of questions:
    • Is it possible when downloading Apps from the store to pick up a Virus on the phone, or is it like a UNIX platform for computers and while theoretically possible, very uncommon?)
    • Is there anti-virus available for Android phones?
I want to get a new calendar, to-do list, and notes file for my phone. I do not like the calendar that comes with the Wildfire, I cannot find anywhere to keep “notes” or a to-do list as I use to on my Nokia.
    • How do you go about figuring out which App to download? When I look at the App store and search for “Calendar” I get more hits than I know what to do with.
    • I also cannot figure out how you tell the different Apps apart to know which one does what you want the best.

You're righjt in a sense it is like linux/unix where they are possible but not very common (as yet)

There are anti-virus etc but generally not needed once you're careful about what you load onto your phone.

Like linux/unix there is lots of choice. Best way is to either download the apps and test them or have a good for which ones people use, or trawl through the thread we have here where people say what apps/games they're enjoying at the moment.

The one I use is AAMemo I think it's called. Handy widget to go with the app.
    Can use memo's notes etc.
Check some out and see which best suits you.

Read through the a few of the reviews on the android market for each app you are interested in, don't go by the first two or three.
