Skinny jeans that stay skinny

    Hiya

I've been having awful trouble buying jeans recently. A few years ago I always went to River Island for them - they were quite expensive (€60 or so) but they had great colours, shapes and really decent quality to the point the black skinnys I bought there about 4 years ago I still wear day to day now and they're only just starting to rip but have kept their skinny shape. In the last couple years however I've found that River Island's jean style and quality has dramatically decreased, and the price has remained the same.

I've tried Topshop jeans (Jamie) which were a great shape when I tried them on in the store and are also a great shape for about an hour after they've been in the dryer. After that, you'd never know they were skinnys - they sag all down the leg and around the ass.

I've tried AWear and a couple others and just had the same result - great tight fit in the store then when I buy them and have them worn for a couple days/hours they're no longer skinny.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best jeans brand? I would be willing to branch out into something more expensive in BT2 except I'm too afraid same thing will happen as with Topshop's... and I won't know before its too late!

    Thanks!

The best skinnies I ever got were in Uniqlo. They've kept their shape for years. I'd get more online but the sizing on the website bears no resemblence to the mysterious figure printed on the label of the jeans I own. Sigh.

Got a pair in Forever 21 that last very well, 2 days anyway no sag (haven't worn them any longer than that). Picked up some in Uniqlo last week, only wore them for a day but they certainly lsated the whole day.

I find the BDG jeans in Urban Outfitters really good! I've had a pair for over a year and they still have their shape, they're about 55 euro I think...

I had new look jeans (before the yes yes) jeans came out and I think they are amazing. Now after a few years they are getting baggy.

I have a pair of Forever 21 jeans and they never kept their shape. :(

River Island are another one for terrible shape and waist band. I keep on having to pull them up.

I have a pair of a wear size 10 cropped jeans that I have to squeeze into and another pair that are falling off me after a few hours. It really is trial and error....but boy is it expensive!

I like Zara's skinny jeans. I have two pairs. I think most jeans go out of shape eventually but I agree that washing regularly can help get rid of the looseness for a while. The zara jeans I got ('Zara Basics') were very reasonable- between 25-30euro and have lasted a good while!:)

I've found Pennys skinny jeans are great for keeping their shape (on me, anyway!). I was able to wear the jeans I picked up for 2 days and they didn't sag or get loose on the leg or ass. Granted they are a pretty snug fit on me, I don't know if that makes a difference? A-wear jeans, regardless of shape or fit, just sag on me within an hour :(

I like Dorothy Perkins super skinnies. For me they hold a great shape, not too expensive either. Only really come in navy and black though, just in case you're looking for colour! :)

I've found Topshop's Jamie jeans to hold their shape very well. If I feel I want them tighter I just throw them in the dryer on high heat after washing.

The old New Look jeans were great for keeping their shape, now they've changed them and they're rubbish.

I find black skinnies are the worst for sagging, I've one pair that I can barely wear for 5 minutes before the knees and arse are gone baggy. The American Apparel Four-Way Stretch High-Waist Side Zipper Pants are good for keeping their shape, I have the green ones and I can wear them for days without them going baggy although for some reason the black ones go baggy very quickly. Dr Denim jeans are quite good too.

This probably sounds like a very random place but in Dunnes Stores they have a particular pair of jeans - they're quite dark washed but not black, and they're available in straight or skinny leg - and they stay the perfect shape forever, no sagging at all. They're the first pair of jeans that fit me so perfectly I don't even need a belt - and I've tried jeans from a lot of places.

Generally speaking, jeans with a bit more elastane will hold their shape better.

Yup! I live in my my skinnies from Dunnes. They were only €12, and haven't really faded or sagged and i've had them over six months.

Theyattract lotsa dirt and hair though, that's the only thing!

I have been beaten to it - Dunnes jeans in general are very good when it comes to keeping their shape and I'm sure their skinnies are the same as the rest. The price is always good for what you get in Dunnes too so win win!

EDIT: (just remembered!) GAP Always Skinny jeans are brilliant!

    Thanks for all the tips!

Wasn't expecting those comments on Dunnes, have to go in today and have a look. For €12 its definitely worth a shot!

Also, I've never heard of Uniqlo ---- where can you buy them? Are they only online?

I got mine in Manhattan, but think they are also in Dublin? I don't know, I'm not in Dublin either :D
