    Looking at buying a 07 focus saloon 1.6lx, 52K Km 2 owners
    Have it for a test until lunchtime today.
    2 things have been noticed.

    1. Engine fan comes on and seems to stay on when the car is idling, even when the temp gauge is reading about 60C, (no air con). will see what happens when I cold start it at lunchtime.

    2. Got someone to take it for a spin around the carpark this morning and he accelerated hardish in 2nd gear and there seemed to be a slight misfire and the engine waring light same on very briefly and then the problem went away and could not be recreated.

    Any feedback would be great

    I'd have a mechanic look it over and also take a second similar car for an extended test drive to compare. Plenty of these cars around so don't just settle for the first one you see.

    Also I'd aim for a higher spec model than the LX, either a Zetec with the Connection Pack or the Ghia. Will cost very little extra but will have more creature comforts and easier to sell on when you are done with it.

    The fan sounds like it's operating normally to be honest. There's no cooling airflow when it's idling so the fan cuts in instead.
    I don't know about the misfire but it really doesn't sound too serious. It could be from sitting around for a while but to be honest internet diagnosis is an inexact science.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Garage checked engine diagnostics and replaced the plugs, got a retired mechanic to have a check and seems happy with car.
    12mth warranty, so will prob go for it.
