some "number(s) not recognised" Iphone 4-HELP!

    Hi all,

    Had my iphone 4 for a couple of days now. I can receive texts and calls but i cant call or text certain numbers....

    These numbers are all different networks and billpay or pay as you go so its not a network problem.

    Ive rang 3 again and again and again-no joy
    went to shop-"not our problem" (nice)

    when i text it appears to send but isnt received. When i ring it just says number not recognised. They can ring and text me fine.

    ive rebooted, reset, ect

    I have noticed theres an icon at the top of a phone with an arrow pointed outwards...appeared yesterday....what is this? (it's gone now, so wasnt the issue)

    Please help i'm soooooo fed up with this damn phone.

    First up, I don't think it's the phone. Your symptoms are classic network problems. I would suggest that you contact 3 - they have reps here in the talk to forum, they should be able to help you out.

    I've seen this before, it is often related to porting of numbers. But it may be that either the SIM has not mounted on your account correctly, or your account is not set up correctly by 3. Call 3 and ask for technical support, calmly work though the script with the operator and they should be able to fix this quite easily.

    The arrow looks like it is the call divert icon, which is basically telling you voicemail is active, I think it's something to do with the 3->Vodafone->3 handover, don't worry about this as it is not causing your issues.

    The little icon has now gone...

    yes i've been on to three (five times in fact) getting there slowing answering the same questions repeatedly but thats a separate issue.

    I have been referred to the networks team and i have to wait at "at most 2 working days" as its friday i hope they sort it soon. It's very frustrating that i had a perfectly functioning phone and now with changing networks there's all these problems.

    I think you are right though so i will have to wait and see. Thanks for replying really appreciate it.

    This only seems to happen with 3, and is getting more frequent. I had only one problem with a Tesco mobile, which 3 said wasn't their problem (Surprise!!) then Patrick, the 3 rep got involved, and had it solved in 2 days - same with my son's phone. I don't remember this going on with any other network before.
