I was doing a bit of browsing and came across this: http://www.carzone.ie/search/Saab/9-3/1.9TTiD-/201115201982035/advert?channel=CARS

I know the car itself is ancient but it certainly looks decent value next to the 3 Series/A4 or even the S60. I initally thought it was the twin-turbo model with it being described as the 'TTiD', but it says 130bhp.

If you could get over the dated and cheap feeling interior I don't think it would be a bad car. The emissions are now quite competitive and it still cuts a dash looks wise.

Same price as a new diesel Mondeo.

Would it be a horrible Mondeo LX though or something with a decent spec?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Still a lot of money for a second hand Opel Vectra based car albeit with a very good FIAT diesel engine

A BMW demonstrator 3-series could be had for that kinda money so I reckon the Saab would struggle to sell unless a traditional gullible Saab fan came along ready to empty his pockets :)

Thats a shocking interior! especially the centre console little storage area between gear stick and climate controls is alike something from a van!!

€30k is alot of wedge to be sinking into a Saab 9-3 given the depreciation on them. And given it's only a matter of time before Saab cease trading I don't fancy spending that sort of coin on one.

BTW the TTid is 190bhp afaik.

In all fairness the 9-3 is nearly a 10 years old design and even at that Saabs including their interiors were always quirky.

I've sort of become out of touch with new car prices these days so that's probably why it seemed like okay value to me in the first place.

I'm willing to give SAAB the benefit of the doubt with their current cars as it can't have been easy for them suffering two decades of mis-management under GM. The 9-3 is definitely outclassed, there is no question about it. They have however managed to turn the TTiD into a segment leader with regard to power/Co2 emissions, pushing out 190bhp with only 119 g/km Co2. If you could do a deal to get one of them for nearer to thirty grand then I think it would be one hell of a car for the wedge.

It actually looks better in photos than in real life. The enormous slab of dash is made out of the nastiest plastic ever used in a car, seriously, Toyota would be ashamed of it. It's like the back of a TV, the bit no-one ever sees or touches, except you see and touch it every damn day!

That 2011 9-3 looks incredibly like an ole 9-5.

That particular one looks a bit crap inside. Partners father has the top spec one with Sat Nav screen, autobox and all, way way nicer looking inside.

It's a great car, some go outa the twin Turbo

Looks like all diesel 9-3 models now come with the TTiD badge, the 180bhp is the one with the twin turbos. The single turbo versions come in 130bhp and 160bhp which are straight out of the Opel Insignia and Alfa Romeo 159.

shameless plug here but my Dad is selling his twin turbo 200bhp 2008 9-3 if you're interested in them.

I've driven it a good bit and I have to say the interior never bothered me too much. It is a bit bland but it's well put together and really comfortable.

No, no, not at all. Just discussing them more than anything.

It's a nice car anyway and best of luck with the sale.

That example is nice but I was never a fan really especially before the facelift when it looked uncannily like a Seat Toledo circa 1996. It's an antediluvian design too and with the imminent demise of SAAB I'd want a very serious discount on that price. Much prefer an S60 with a few toys.
