    Hi,

Hope this is in the right section of the forum.
My laptop is about 18 months old and its bugging me,getting sluggish etc and I want to completley restore it to pretty much the same way it was coming out of the box when i bought it.
I didnt get a recovery disc with it when i bought it (New,from PC world)
I have everything I want to keep from my laptops HD saved to an external HD so im not worried about losing anything,i just want to start a fresh with it.
    Any ideas?
Ive had a look at restoring it through the settings in control panel but its asking me to select a restore point, all 3 are from the last few days.

You need to get hold of a Windows 7/Vista disk to wipe everything from the laptop... If you know anyone tech savy they may have one... alternatively pc shops can do it for you but they charge stupid amounts for the amount of work thats involved in doing it

If you manage to get one of them then you just pop the disk in restart and follow the instructions from there its pretty easy...

    Cheers for the replies.
Am I right in thinking i should have created one of these recovery discs myself when i got the laptop first?
So without one of these discs, theres no way as such to blank it?

There might be a recovery partition on the laptop . This is from HP's support site ...
On some models, you can perform a recovery from the partition on the hard drive, accessed by pressing
either the Start button or f11. This restores the computer to its factory condition.
To restore the system from the partition, follow these steps:
    1. Access Recovery Manager in either of the following ways:
    ● Select Start > All Programs > Recovery Manager > Recovery Manager.
    – or –
    ● Turn on or restart the computer, and then press esc while the “Press the ESC key for Startup
Menu” message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Then, press f11 while the “Press
<F11> for recovery” message is displayed on the screen.
    2. Click System Recovery in the Recovery Manager window.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
