Anybody else think more could be done? Where is the hype surrounding the games at all?

This weekend we have the Munster Football Champions (Kerry) vs All-Ireland Champions (Cork). Next weekend we have Munster Hurling Champions (Waterford) vs All-Ireland Hurling Champions (Tipperary). This kind of thing should be flogged on the radio. Dunno what attendance they're expecting in Killarney, but I heard about 30,000 expected for the Hurling. If they advertised it better they could definetly get more people to go, contributing to a better atmosphere and more enjoyable all-round experience.

I know the main reason attendances are down is the financial circumstances in the country, but I think the games could be promoted better, and I don't just mean marquee games such as those I've mentioned but all games.

apparently the football is a sell-out so not much more to be done there.

Probably a bad example that one. Cork and Kerry games are also big. But the other one could/should be selling better than it will.

Not alone the provincial finals, but many games in general are poorly marketed by the GAA. Unless you listened carefully to the national media, you'd hardly know that there was 2 hurling games (do or die, like the old style championship) on tomorrow evening. They just about mention the Leinster final because Dublin are in it and know they will get a better return on their "investment". I'm not taking a slight against Dublin here - they have the biggest population - and the media see this so they think about the money side of it, that is all.

If only the GAA could employ the people behind those Neil Diamond ads - then you'd know what promotion of an inter-county match should be!!

Exactly. You'd have to go searching in the backpages (the sport section) to know they're on. They should have ads in the main section of papers and on the radio.
