Macbook wireless issue

    Hi
    I have a Macbook, 2008 model(white) running Osx 10.5.8
I have an issue with the wireless connectivity that is more annoying than it is serious.
I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and can propose a solution.
Whenever I start the system or resume from sleep and try to access the net, the first page loads fine. However once that brief initial connection to the wireless network is made the signal then drops off to 1 or 2 bars and no pages will load. If I simply switch the airport off and back on again all works fine and full strength is maintained until the next restart.
I am using a Netopia router, WPA2, have changed channels(no joy).
    Any suggestions on this?
    Thanks in advance

Check Software Update. As I recall, there was an Airport update that fixed some wireless issues with certain Macs around the time of 10.5.8.

Other things you can try (in the following order) is:

    * Resetting the PRAM (see here)
    * Deleting the current Airport connection in System Prefs > Network, create a new one and re-enter all your settings
    * Install the 10.5.8 combo update (which you can find here)

Will do a full update now, have ignored them recently.
Have reset PRAM, recreated wl network, swapped routers, changed encryption, changed channel, used fixed and dynamic ip addressing over the last few weeks - all to no avail.
Hopefully the update will iron out this little annoyance.

Let us know how you get on - I may have a mate with this issue - in the end, I moved his Airport network to 5 GHz/802.11n which solved it, but that doesn't suit his iPhone, so it would be great to go back to 2.4 GHZ/802.11g

    Hi
Just thought I would post an update.
i did all system updates but the problem still occurred.
Have since changed wireless settings from b/g to g only, changed defalt channel from 7 to 4, and also noticed an option in the router settings called Auto channel setting - this was set to 'at startup' and I changed it to 'continous'.
Restarted router and Mac and so far all seems good. Early days but fingers crossed.

Further update - just tried again after a restart and problem still exists.
Going to try a different brand router.
