I got mine too.. i'm eligible for the scheme.. I hope I get the subsidized accommodation!

If I get the points I need, will I definetly get subsidized accommodation now that i'm eligible?

No there is a limited number of subsidised places. They are allocated based on family income and extenuating circumstances. You would get the scholarship though.

Like the LC results it is wait and see

What is the Scholarship? I think I'l def get the points I need so I know I won't get reduced points and I meet the family income factor but then again, other people might be in worst off circumstances, so what does the scholarship entail?

Acess service can either offer a Grant, which might help pay for your accomadation, Give you a room on campus for half price, or I think a few people get full cost of a room covered.

Im an access student and im going into second year. the access service in DCU is brillant and there very helpful with everything. I know that when i failed exams in january they were very reassuring and helped me with what i could do next. I no that not a lot of people get the subsidised accommodation. I lived in larkfield last year and not many access students lived there and only 2 of them had subsidised accommodation and I no theres normally around 100 access students in each year in DCU. For anyone who is moving away from home i would highly recommend applying to live in larkfield in first year even if you dont have the subsidised accomodation. I lived there and I must say I met so many people from all over Ireland and people that are in completely different courses and now were all the best of friends. Theres no living rooms in Larkfield, its jus 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen in each apartment which are pretty small. It is not the best accommodation but the crac the you will have it is defintely worth it. It also helps with your attendance of college. I no that if i didnt live on campus i probably would never have went to college. I didnt get subsidised accommodation from access because i needed the lower points but every1 who doesnt get in with subsidised accommodation get a grant from access as well as 1 from your local county council. If you are accepted onto the HEAR programme you must attend a summer week for first year access students starting in september. I was there last year and as I come from a very small area and didnt know anyone going to DCU it was brillant for me I met so many people before i even got into my course and Im still friends with them. I wish you all the best of the luck and hope to see you all on the 30th of august. DCU is a Brillant college and you will all have a brillant time there.

I heard some people saying that the grant they give can often cover the cost of the accomodation.. is it really that much? Like how much is it?

Oh i see.. 1000 would come in very handy!

I think it says on the form that we go up on the 31st of August.. is this the start of orientation week for all 1st years or just access students?.. Will we have to come up again in september for orientation week?

Is it not the 30th of August? the access students come up that day its like a tues to a friday. Its a really good week and it great to get to no new ppl especially if your coming to dcu without knowing any1. Its basically loads of second years and 2 3rd years and then the access officers get to show you around and stuff. Do u mind me asking you what course your planning on doing?
