Hi, new to itunes, iphones etc.

How do you set it up so that the only thing itunes sends to your iphone is the music?

I was trying to send music there and it said things like calendar, bookmarks etc. The music didn't send in the end. I did manage to do that after. But how do you stop it syncing internet bookmarks, mail etc?

    Thanks.

When the iPhone is connected, click on it in the iTunes sidebar, go through every tab and untick everything except music.

    Thanks Professor.

    Will try that this evening.

Also, is there way of preventing itunes automatically syncing when I plug in my iphone?

There's a checkbox in Preferences > Devices that will disable automatic syncing.

Ok, so I tried sending my music from itunes on my laptop to my iphone.

According to itunes, there is now 1.7GB of music on my iphone but when I check my iphone, there is just the 1 album that I put on it before.

    Any ideas?

click manually add music and videos on the iphone screen that appears once your phone is recognised in itunes, this way you can drag and drop music from folders to the phone and delete directly from the phone (in itunes, not the phone itself).
The whole syncing bull is painfull if you are trying to add or remove a handful of songs. I only sync once every few months to create a contacts and texts backup.

Came on to ask another question directly in relation to that and found that you had written that post. Thanks a lot Victor. Solved a headache for me.

at the risk of sounding like a dick, i'd check the apple website,

they have some very good how-to-do videos on there
    apple site

and failing that i'd doing a search in the support search box,
it will nearly always thrown up an answer.

i know its what i do whenever i've something to get to grips with.
you might pick up other tips also. :)
