Hello, I have decided to invest in an L85 this summer but there seems to be many brands of them to choose from, so I would like some advise on which to buy.

Also I intend to attach the Madbull daniel defense rail so would the brand I choose be compatible with the rail system.

I am tying to get a look similar to the L85 below, so which L85 is that barrel length.

    Thanks for any help/advise.

Don't bother with the madbull rail, its twice the price of the acm one, and the same build pretty much.

I'd get an Ares. Its really the only decent one of the lot. Some like the ICS, but im not a huge fan, the internals are good, but its got a number of external discrepancies that just look odd...

Ares is real weight, reliable, decent accuracy and range out of the box.

The g&g and army, i just wouldnt touch, the blowback makes them unreliable and prone to splating themselves, and the gearbox design is early bullpup confusion.

Grab yourself the boom arms rail set, and the ares sa80, job done.

Also, that photo is the regular length sa80, its just got the vortex flashhider instead of the standard one that slips over the standard outer a little, making it look shorter... that one just goes on the end. :)

You can get the ACM rail on boomarms.com or eBay. If you want the full new style look then the ACOG riser and Surefire flash hider are on RSOV.com. If you want the SUSAT get the one off EBairsoft.com, it's cheap and fantastic (I have one myself and it's great!).

As for the AEG itself get a Star/Ares (got the last Star off ehobby myself) or failing that an Army Armaments (clone of G&G and cheap) or an ICS. Bail on the G&G as it apparently has major issues for a major price tag!

Glad you posted this Sealcon, you beat me to it :P

I was going to make a post asking the exact same thing. I'm also to get/build the new RIS style L85.

If you find a decent Ares AEG could you send me a link? I will do the same if I find one.

no issue with customs and the uk, uk is classed as inside the eu for postage so will not get held

So aegs get through without even being looked at? Like if it was inside Ireland

With guns from the UK, don't you have to be part of a UK airsoft club or somthing? otherwise you get like Blue painted guns? Or am I wrong?

that is only if you are living inside the uk and buying internally or trying to import from outside the uk, uk to Ireland sales are fine and ukara registration is not needed

Thanks for the info puding that will help a lot

do you know If the websites will downgrade for me or will I have to take it into the country and downgrde from here

needs to be downgraded before it comes in, most of the decent uk retailers will downgrade, the downgrade on the l85 is very very easy so there should be no problem
