Higher Education Grant- please help!

I've been offered a masters course which i plan to take and i should be eligible for the grant, but i'm not sure how it works will i have to pay the fees and then get refunded or will the council pay the college straight away? I just can't afford and will have over 5000 by September :(

if you apply for the grant, you inform the college you have done so. they will wait until your grant is processed. if its accepted, the council will pay the fee's directly to the college.
if its not succesful, you will then have to pay the fee's yourself.
