Does anyone know if it will be cheaper to buy a foreign package holiday from tomorrow?

The revenue website is not very clear, it says the rate on hotels will come down to 9% but doesn't say whether this includes foreign hotels.

The answer is in your question, kind of.

The key word is FOREIGN. If you book a foreign holiday, you pay foreign VAT.

The whole point of the exercise is to bring down the cost of Irish hotels, and the Irish govt has no control over the rate of VAT in any other jurisdiction...

plus we can only hope that companies will pass onto the VAT reduction to consumers....i have a feeling quite a few will not!

I am not sure of the answer to your question, but I would think the idea was to promote Irish tourism and it would be ludicrious if there was a loophole to promote foreign tourism in this way.

Your purchase of reading material to take with you, food at the airport etc should be cheaper but the price of booking a package holiday should not change unless there are idiots running the country... oh wait I forgot
