I live in holland but have only been here a few weeks. Few friends are coming to see me end of august, so i need a good hostel in amsterdam. Good craicwise, but cheap, because I am a student. But any suggesstion helps!

Take your pick from several on Hostelworld. If a week-end stay is involved, most Amsterdam hostels will require a minimum of 3 nights payment.

Ive stayed in the globe, its right in the red light district and has a 24 hour bar.

www.whitetulip.nl Stayed here a few times its pretty basic but it cant be beat for location

Youthhostel Meetingpoint - just off Dam Square - is the one I stayed in, €18 a night i think it was last July. It was one of the cheapest iirc. the bar runs 24/7 but it was dead quiet when i was there.
