    Just bore the hell out of them with long balls and a ridiculously organised team like you do against opposition in the LOI and you should be fine! ;)

    Best of luck tonight. Hope you do the league proud!

    Aye. Was hoping we wouldn't get an Icelandic trip in the draw. Estonia is far more affordable.

    Moreso you can fly direct to Estonia, Iceland is a pain to get to. If i had tuesday off i could have went and it would have cost €490

    I'd say accommodation and beer would be dear though..although can't be worse than here.

    Seems cheap in Estonia.

    Was about €8.50 a pint when we were last there seven years ago.

    Not sure if their currency was devalued since.

    Crashed and burned in 2008, lads over there paying about the same for a pint.

    I'm hearing cheering reports that the local brews in Estonia cost between a third and a half of drink here.

    Obviously, I have no doubt that there are other areas of cultural interest there too.

    Yeah there are worse places to be 'ash clouded' in.

    Good luck tonight St. Pats, playing a 4-3-3 formation.

    Rogers;
    Bermingham, E McMillan, Shortall, Pender;
    Crowley, Bradley, Mulcahy;
    Doyle, Kavanagh, North.

    As an experienced travelling Hoop, I have a doubt that they will see a similar spike in Irish visitors however:pac:

    Lots of 'spikes' of the intravenous kind in Iceland tonight.

    Fulltime: IBV 1 - 0 St. Pats

    Very soft penalty, Pats seemed to be on top but were pedestrian until the second half. Pats just couldn't put the chances away.

    Currently scoreless between Bohemians opponents Široki Brijeg and Olimpija Ljubljana.

    Can only recall a LoI side going through once in Europe after losing the first leg away and not scoring (Bohs v Borisov in '03).

    Uphill for Pat's now.

    edit- :o Forgot about us knocking out Karpaty after losing 1:0 in the first leg in Ukraine.

    Can actually see them turning it around, this is judging by the Pats commentary though. They had plenty of chances just couldn't put them away. Might be more settled in front of their home support. Not sure why Shane McFaul didn't start.

    Apparently the Slovenians and the Bosnians look pretty average, we wont do well out there but I can see us getting something in Dalymount.

    I seen this in the Flamurtari v Buducnost game

    Yes that is a phone. Flamurtari score and one of the players takes a picture with his phone on the pitch :pac:

    Yeah, disappointing. A clean sheet is now needed at home - haven't had too many of those this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

    We were brutal didnt deserve anything from the game, mahon got it wrong big time :( Should have went 442 after they scored they were brutal too.

    I'd say this competition doesn't even rank remotely on Pat's radar.

    D’you know what, I think you might have a point. I get the distinct impression that Mahon doesn’t have a whole lot of time for European exploits – he seems to view them as a waste of resources. All his talk during the build up was filled with moaning about the logistics of getting to Iceland and the difficulty in getting info on the opposition – I think he’s far more interested in what happens on Sunday versus yesterday evening’s game. I can sort of see where he’s coming from, but at the same time, I think it’s a bit short-sighted – Pats could draw a big club in the later rounds that could be a bit of a money-spinner. Been a bit unlucky with the draws in that sense in recent seasons – I reckon we’re due a big gun at this stage! More importantly, I think the players probably view playing in Europe as a pretty big deal.

    Don't think 1-0 away from home is all that bad of a result. Certainly capable of turning things around.

    Definitely, but it's the defeat coupled with no away goal(s) that concerns me - Pats have found it difficult to keep clean sheets this season.

    Kazak team scored in 90th minute to draw 1-1 away.

    That match should be over by the time we play next week, if they win send out a team of Fans vs IBV. Kazakstan isnt even in Europe ffs :(

    We should beat IBV they were very poor and we too negative, not sure i want us to if Kazaks win tho.

    Poxy result. Think we'll beat them at home though. But could see us conceding a goal to them too, which will fcuk things up.
