feck knows, this is 3 you are talking about after all.

turn off proxes in internet explorer, tools>options somewhere but there may be none in there so it must be 3

Your brothers computer isn't a company one? If so might be their proxy server your trying to conect to but again that is ususally in that Tools(somewhere)>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings, but can be a persistant registry hack.

I'd defo give the computer a lash with Malwarebytes as loads of malware sets up a proxie but again most change the settings you've already looked at.

Try also creating a new user incase its something profile related.

Try changing the APN the one you want is 3internet if you are on the old 3ireland.ie or 3netaccess then that might be the issue? 3ireland.ie and 3netaccess put you behind 3's own poxy server.

Depends on the connection software you are using as 3 have used at 3 different ones but they all have the notion of a profiles. When you connect you connect using a specific profile which has your connection settings in it. So you need to check the profile you are using and see what the APN is or just create a new profile and set that as default. The only settings you need in the profile are dialing string *99# and APN 3internet everything else can be left on the defaults. If you need more help then let us know what software you are useing from the Help menu somewhere on the connection software menu.

Sounds like the Birdstep one which I can get to on my latop a bit later so if you can hang on I'll post a step by step guide for you.

If you can post your IP address as shown by www.whatismyip.com then I can tell you what APN you are using (proxy uses a specific range of addresses). Your IP changes each time you connect so its safe enough to post it as it doesn't identify you in any way.

    Run 3 Connect

Menu bar > Settings > Advanced Settings

Connections (Icon) > Highlight the connection thats there (3connect) > Click on Propertied button. On the 3G tab in the Box Access point name (APN) it should say 3internet, if it doesn't then change it to 3internet and click OK then close out back to the main menu and try again.

Chances are the APN is already 3internet but you never know?

And the IP address comes from a block of subsciber IP addresses issued to 3 Irelands users and not the range of IP addresses they use for their proxy servers.

So back to the drawing board, did you scan with AV and Malwarebytes?
