    Hi,
I need to access behind a kitchen unit and so need to temporarily remove the shelving. The only connections I can see on the shelving are these screws with a head that's sort of like a Phillips head, but isn't really and are at a bit of an angle. They rotate for about a revolution and then stop. How do these work - is there a specific type of tool for removing these?

they are just a locking mechanism that turns for 1/4 revolution to lock / unlock - turn them all fully in anti-clockwise direction, should sort you out....

They're called Cam Locks. They hold the unit together, the sides and the tops. Won't help you remove the shelving....
