Hi

I am hoping someone can clarify this for me as its unclear to me reading the official documentation.

I was working away full time until July 2010 and then had a serious accident which left me with a permanent physical disability. The accident happened outside of work.

Unable to return to the line of work i was once in, and also unable to do a job similar to someone of my age i entered third level education full time to retrain in something that would suit my circumstances.

I have applied for disability allowance but am just looking to find out will me entering third level education shortly after the accident have any effect on the application?

    Thank you

I myself am on disability allowance and am attending university. The following link provides further information,
http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Publications/SW29/Pages/16CanItakeupemploymenteducationortrainingandstillgetDisabilityAllowance.aspx
You can undertake full allowance in education but you must be getting allowance for 9 months before entering education (according to that link), but i'd say they can make exceptions as I acquired my disability whist in university yet still received full payment for 2 years, granted I took a year out to adjust to my injury.

Your best bet would be to contact social welfare or if back in College or an IT a disability support officer. Hope that helps a bit and best of luck.
