Meteor mobile broadband fault - finally solved!

    Hi,

    Thought this might be useful to somebody.

    Been trying to fix my father-in-law's Meteor mobile svce for ages, finally seem to have cracked it this eve.

    Configuration: eMachines laptop running Win 7 Home Prem, with Meteor Huawei E182E 3G dongle.

    Problem: intermittent failure to connect to mobile data service. The Meteor control panel launches fine & will send texts but nowt else.

    Spent hours on the phone to Meteor - mostly nice people but not much knowledge tbh. Rebuilt the laptop today from the DVDs with the factory settings on. No joy.

    Solution: Happened across details of s/w upgrade for the dongle. It wasn't suggested as a soln for tech issues, but I thought it worth a lash. So far it's cured it. Find the details towards the bottom here http://www.meteor.ie/support/bbtg/bp_stick/. Forget the specific old & new s/w versions, sorry.
