I'm trying to find part-time/full-time work anywhere right now in the South Dublin area. I've handed out over 60 CV's in the last 2 weeks yet the best I'm getting is, 'We're not recruiting right now but we'll keep your CV on file'

Tried the net too and it's not much better, if anything, it's harder.

Wondering here, does anyone have any tips for me? I'm willing to go on minimum wage. Just need a job.

    :(

I think patience will be your best bet ;) in this economic climate it is very hard to get work, 60 cv's isnt that many, there are people here sending out 100's of cv's with no luck, including myself. You need to just keep at it I think, there are 1000's of people in the same situation :(

The best chance at the moment that I have seen is door to door sales. Its not for me but its a job anyway. The bad thing is that it only pays commission

Ya that seems to be the only thing going at the moment

Im in the same boat and I have to say its so disheartening after sending out 100s of CVs, applying for every job that I think I could do, even ones that wouldnt be commutable. So tired of being told "Sorry, theres nothing" Feel like I should just give up :(

Exact feeling I'm getting now.... tallied it up and tried 265 shops in the last 2 weeks handing out 183 CV's and the best I've got is, 'We'll keep you on file'.

Dole queue beckoning.... literally living on scraps right now... no money and asking parents for cash gets a tad embarrassing when you're a young adult I reckon...

dont want to sound like a bit of a twat ...but why not try to create your own work.

make a list of what you are good at or something that you like, find an area which you think can be done faster/better, create a new service...become self employed.

that's easier said than done - especially when you're on a shoestring of a budget

I know but its more about learning skills, finding the niche - plenty of businesses started from scratch.

I've been self employed for about 10years now, I would consider myself to be reasonably successful, I have loads of ideas for expansion/adaption but money and time are what seem to be stopping me (one of my website ideas I was quoted €25K to build it from scratch to work the way I want it to work...so I shelved the idea and recently(in last 2-3years) I noticed several websites leaning towards the business model which I had in my head.)

the long and short of it is that - it may not happen fast...but if you spot a market, build a business around it and eventually over time that business will thrive. (assuming you do not become dependent on another business)
