High Signal Level, Zero Signal Quality

I live in an apartment in Stoneybatter, we have a sky dish on the roof which we have connected to our main TV, but I though Saorview would be a good option for the bedroom.

Went to Power City today and bought a Walker WP12DTB-R and a Lloytron Amplified UHF/VHF Antenna. I've hooked it all up and it's not recieving a signal. I've done a manual scan on channel 54 (according to the Saorview site three rock is my transmitter) and I'm getting a constant signal level of 85%, but absolutely nothing for signal quality. Am I missing something obvious??

Our bedroom window is north facing, and I cannot pick up any channels clearly when I just plug the UHF/VHF antenna. I'm guessing I just have crappy reception, but I thought I'd ask the experts here before I try and get my money back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Okay lets work with what we have got since you are in an apartment.

The aerial - it has to be on the window cill and still connected to the TV which can be difficult as the fly lead is not very long on amplified aerials and you need to be near a electrical power socket too .

So aerial on the cill (you may have to move the TV with it - this is only temporary to see if you can get a signal first). The middle bit - roundy bit is the important bit - not the rods either side, make sure they are not extended. Move that round bit back and forth to see of any signal change. Also make sure the volume like button is turned completely to the right to the max.

Yes its 54 - if you are on manual scan mode on 54 moving the aerial should give you near real time signal quality and strength results.

If it works then you extend the fly lead with a coax extender or rf lead.

Remember that the DTT signal takes two or so seconds to register, so do not wave the aerial about, move it slowly and give the tuner time to register.
