Car cigarette lighter not working

    My cigarette lighter isnt working but every other piece of electrics is fine in my car
    anyone any ideas of whats the problem ?

    yes, first check the fuse board. that is the very first port of call.

    After that. check some other item in it to make sure its not the lighter or whatever charge you are sticking in it.


    After that, take out the centre console and put a volt meter to it to check voltage. One of these should resolve.

    Likely the fuse alright. A voltmeter can be used to test the socket itself if the fuse is ok, and check the socket itself to see the connection points are clean, especially the centre one at the back/bottom of the socket.

    If its a plug your putting into the cigarette lighter socket, such as on a phone charger, there may be a fuse in that itself, so if you have another item like suggested above, try that in the socket first.
