recruitment process; anyone any experience with this?

    Hi,
I sent off my CV and cover letter to an organization in the area of social care. 2 days later I received an email telling me I had been successful, and that the next stage of the process was to ring an automated phone line number and "You will receive clear directions on our voice mail automated system and then you have just 2 minutes to convince us that you are the right person to join our team"

If I were successful in this step, the next step would be a team-building/selection night...does anyone have any idea what this would entail? To me it seems like a strange recruitment process because after all this they still require individual interviews at a later stage. I have gone applied for lots of jobs in the caring/social work area but none of them have required anything like this! Also, the job advert says nothing about the working hours/salary etc so I am not too sure what to expect, it just says that there are many positions available.

I find the whole process a bit daunting and would be love to know if anyone has done this before, what is expected when ringing the voice mail, and what would a team selection night entail?!

    Cheers! :)

Gotta say it sound like a scam -is the number a premium line ?

Yeah that sounds very much like a scam. I don't know any organizations in the social care field who have the money for automated services and selection nights.
Working in social care has nothing to do wit how well you sell yourself. Stick with applying to the known organizations and websites.

Thanks for the replies, I thought the process sounds a bit strange and not very usual for social care roles

however I looked up to organization and it looks fairly legit

not really too sure what to do as the place is 5/6 hours drive away from me and dont want to go if its a waste of time!

Oh private residential service thats where they get the money for crap like that. Personally I think thats an appalling way to recruit for something like social care, you need to see people face to face, cause at the end of the day thats what matters not whether they can sell themselves on a phone.:confused:

exactly, I didnt see how me being able to talk about myself for 2 minutes over the phone is relevant to what the role would actually involve, and cant find any info on the company other than their own website!

A truly abysmal way of recruiting people for such an important post as Social Care - it would make me wonder just who is doing these jobs.
