id look at some loc bike shops to u. sometimes you can get a real good deal in them where they got a trade in on a other bike and now just want to sell it off!
re carbon ofc look out for ware and marks etc that may efect the bike when it comes to carbon a crack anywhere is bad so look all over,
also look out for carbon pactchs that may show the bike was pached in some way after a crash etc.

Bring an MRI machine with you :D Seriously though, all you can do to is inspect it with your sight. Scratches are ok cracks are not. If the seller has a large presence here on the boards community then they will be unlikely to want to tarnish their reputation by selling you junk.

Not very likely IMO and will be very obvious to spot if a repair job has been done..

The components and the material of the frame are completely seperate. You can get alu frames with crap components and carbon frames with crap components. Do a bit of googling to find out the quality of the components on the bike which you are looking at. If, by any chance, they are Shimano Di2 >= Dura Ace > Ultegra > 105 > Tiagra > Sora.
