hi i am just looking for information on suitable options or other peoples experiences regarding crooked front teeth. i have some overcrowding on one side of my upper front teeth with a prominent incisor and a misplaced tooth behind it due to my abnormal bite. i have recently got engaged and would love to be able to smile on my wedding day. i am not looking for a miracle but would be greatful for any advice. is it possible just to have them removed and implants put in? many thanks

    Hi there

I cannot tell you the best treatment without seeing you first but it sounds like braces or orthodontic treatment might suit you best. If you have a year then there should be enough time to give a good result but you are running out of time.

It is a better option than extractions and implants. Ask your dentist or look up www.orthodontics.ie to see a specialist. dont be tempted by "6 month braces" by the way

    good luck

I would say, do not take out good teeth. You might want them later in life!

My sister in law had the same dilema as you, exact same reason too! *Congrats by the way!*

She has been using some "fast" plastic braces... she calls them her rubber bands. Anyway she has made superb changes in about 4 months.. with 3 or visits to Cork to see the dentist in question. I am not saying the previous poster is wrong, but you need to see an expert really.

Thank you si guru, that is my point.

An orthodontist is an expert in braces, ckeck with the Dental council for a list of registered Specialists.

There is no such thing as fast braces just normal braces taken off after a few months.

thanks for the info. would braces still be an option if i had to have one of my back teeth removed as i think i might? are invisalign braces suitable if some teeth need to be moved a good distance?

Veneers or crowns may also be an option, orthodontics is always best if you can afford the time, veneers are quicker if you have a deadline.

    why not?

Because you could go to a qualified orthodontist and get the same work done if it was to your benefit, for a quarter of the price.:)

    Hi

braces or traintracks would still be an option if you had an extraction. Invisalign only suitable for mild or straightforward cases I'm afraid.
