    Hi folks.

It's time to upgrade my car, and I'm looking around different car sites, but I thought I'd ask the more learned people here! :)

Thankfully, I've been able to narrow down my requirements. So I'm looking for:

    2008/2009
    Hatchback
Diesel (I drive long stretches on motorways)
1.6L or 1.8L (no need for anything higher)
    5 doors
    Air-con
    1 years warranty (at least)

I've read other threads, but they tend to drift into conversations about horsepower, torque etc. I'm not really concerned about speed. The things that are most important to me (in order) are:
    1. Reliability
    2. Comfort
    3. Looks
    4. Low depreciation
    5. Speed (just enough to comfortably overtake someone!)

Any ideas? I was thinking of a Focus. But might also consider a Kia Ceed or a Toyota Aurus. Was hoping to spend max €10K.

    Thanks for any advice! :)

Kia C'eed or Hyundai i30 diesels would be a good buy in that price range IMO and have enough go in 115bhp form too.

Focus seems like a very logical choice there, facelift 1.6TDci.

I second the i30. Very under rated car and look good (better than the c'eed imo and most of the others in this bracket)
Available in 2008 in 1.6 form with 115bhp

I'd aim for the segment above the Focus, Astra, etc. You will get more car for your money, better refinement and a more comfortable drive.

    Something like these:

Heart says Alfa Romeo 147 Diesel...

    Not the Auris anyway.

    Logical choice is the focus.
It'd kill me to spend so much on a dull car.

Also consider golf 1.9 tdi or Kia cee'd

Thanks for the advice everyone. It would seem the focus is the most logical choice. I'll try the i30 and the Cee'd aswell to see how they drive..

Actually, I'm a bit surprised no one recommended the Auris. Are toyota still not regarded as one of the best for reliability? Has this changed in the last few years, or is the Auris just a poor car?
