Fort Camden, Crosshaven, County Cork is open to the public this weekend July 2/3rd 12 noon to 5pm and also open for the remaining weekends over the summer.

You can see how the place looked a couple of years ago when I visited:

Rescue Camden are doing wonders with the place. They have more than twenty full time restoration workers, mostly apprentices, FAS training schemes etc. It is a huge project but they are well into fixing the place up.

It is a brilliant place to visit and if you go July 2/3rd you can also see my Abandoned Ireland exhibition on display in their exhibition centre. Highly recommended!

OMg I wish i could get down there for this opening. I spent many great summers down at fort Camden as my dad was a CPO there during the summer months. I've been in fort camden lots of times, watched movies there, took a trip on a Gemini into Cork harbour and lost my skateboard down into the moat, but a kind sailor went down and got it for me. Well I was a teen girl at the time :) Great memories and great to see it being revitalised. Hope to visit again sometime

Great little piece of music from Skully, who was himself heavily involved in the restoration :

A bunch of other interesting stuff on youtube as well.
