    Hello all,

I am doing my front garden, and I replaced the lawn with garvel, and left a little patch for flowers/shrubs. as you can see from the picture I have a magnolia tree on the right hand side, and I want to add an ever green shrub to the left of it that complements it.

I am looking for a nice shrub, that's a bit colorful, and I dont mind if it flowers.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

    A lavender bush might suit.

Magnolias prefer slightly acidic soils so a good low growing, evergreen & colourful (foliage) shrub would be: Leucothe Hot lips or a dwarf flowering option would be Skimmia, ie S.Merlot.
