been thinking lately of getting a single coil strat or tele (i have a brand in mind so no worrys there) but i used to using a sg so i have a few bumps to smooth out first

first prob i'm facing is i used to tune o matic bridge(like on sgs) so any advice on how to set the action and intonation on a tele or strat bridge as i am at a bit of a loss on how to do it correctly(i just don't want to f*** it up or worse break it and pay out to my local to fix it)

second is i dont know which to choose i love em both but my budget is for one so any known + or - on any of em would be ace

I'd recommend getting a guitar set up professionally if you are unhappy with its set up from the shop, but most guitar stores will have it set up pretty well to begin with, and if you're paying cold hard cash you can get most of them to set it up the way you like it before you buy it.. the consumer has the upper hand these days.

Secondly, there are no real plus or negatives to either guitar, they are just different. Its all down to personal preference, and I'd advise you to just jam about on each model until you decide which is more you.

I also wouldn't recommend sticking to a particular brand from the outset, but instead play around with lots of different brands before you make the leap!

    Good luck!

I'd agree with the above. They are both different, a Tele wont give you strat sounds and a strat wont give you tele sounds. Just go to a shop and plug 2 in and have a go and see which you prefer.

If there's any particular tones you're after that might help you pick one over the other.

+1 on both being very different. -1 on getting a shop to set it up (if you take it home and decide you want to change it then of course). Action and intonation are super easy to do yourself, especially on a bridge like a Telecaster or Stratocaster standard. 12 screws need a bit of adjusting for action, and 6 need adjusting for intonation. There's loads of info about all this online. It's impossible to break a guitar by doing action and intonation if you're following a guide like you'd find online.

I don't get why so many people pay other people money to set their action etc.??

A guitarist I jam with has that guitar.

An amazing guitar for the price. Can't wait to hear it again soon!
