My partner and i are goin to live in the USA in september but we need to get married beforehand. Whats the quickest way to go about this as time is of the essence, should we apply here in Ireland or is it quicker to do it somewhere in Europe ?

We are both Irish and it will be a registry office wedding.

Many thanks for any info :)

Well, you have to register your intent to marry with the registrar in Ireland 3 months before the wedding date. I haven't done this yet so I don't if you can do it quicker for any reason but I don't think so. I think the three months is pretty rigid.

If I were you, I'd go to Vegas and maybe have a celebration back in Ireland with friends and family later on :)

I think it can be done quicker, but there may be an additional fee

If you are going to get married in a registry office you need to apply 21 days before hand. From what i believe there very busy so the quicker you confirm your dates the better

You can apply to the District Court to have the three month requirement waived.

In Dublin the office is on Inns Quay beside the Four Courts.

You can do it all yourself, you don't need a solicitor. You will find the staff there helpful.

You can get married pretty easily in Gibraltar.

I wouldn’t particularly like it, but just saying…

    Hey

You can apply for an exemption (granted by the family law courts in Smithfield) which means that you dont have to give three months notice however you will need to contact Joyce House, Registration Service in order to book dates, all you have to do is explain your circumstances and they will be able to help you out.

    Regards
