Cube Agree SL or Planet X SL Pro Carbon

If how soon you want a new bike factors into the equation you may want to note that it takes approx 3 weeks for PX in Athlone to get an SL Pro ordered in. I'm heading for week 4 at the moment.

    Getting itchy waiting for it.

I narrowed it down to same two choices for wife's BTW last month.

Went with the PX SL Pro in the end - ordered 7 June and came fully built last Thursday 24th despite there being none in stock when I ordered. If the bike you order is in stock it would probably be quicker but you should call them to ask how long the build queue is (apparently at this time of year it can go out to 3wks).

Of course if you're willing to build it yourself you could have all the pieces come Friday!! You'd need to be sure though - ours came almost fully assembled and we had it out of the box, chain fitted and on the road in under an hour.

    Also £1099+ £25 (delivery) / .88934 = €1264.

I think the SRAM Rival is better than the "Ultegra" on the Cube Agree which is part Ultegra, part 105 and part R500 - all different colours,

The planet X pro carbon is a cheap flexible carbon frame, ideal if you are a skinny under 16 racer who twiddles small gears...:D

Im sure you would be infinately happier with the Cube Agree SL alloy bike, with the Ultegra groupset...

You could just stretch your budget a little, and consider the Cube Agree GTC Pro (Carbon) with a mix of Ultegra and 105 parts, that could be gradually be upgraded as they wear out...
I had a quick spin a mates Cube agree GTC Race, (same frame as the GTC Pro) and I was totally blown away by how it rode.. :)

    Alles Gute:D

Oh dear, I'm a very chunky, definitely over 16 grinder, but I've never had any flexibility problems from my Pro Carbon -do I need to send it back to ensure I have the right bike?

Plenty of PX owners here and they all seem to be very happy with them. I don't know of any better value carbon bike out there. If I were to buy one I'd go with the Rival and I'd upgrade the wheels to Planet X Model B (£30 extra) and the chainset to Rival (£67.44) if they had it in my size. I've no idea what the Apex chainset is like but the Rival chainset is supposed to be very stiff. I'd also have it shipped unbuilt (subtract £30) as I'd rather do it myself.

Can anyone who calls the planet x flexy back this up with any empirical evidence?

I don't really care either way, I don't put out enough power to make a blade of grass flex, but I'm always curious as to why people think it is flexy. Is it a "feeling" or is it something you have actually measured?

I think the bike build for £30 is definitely worth it unless you absolutely love building bikes or are in a rush to get it. The gearing and brakes were absolutely perfectly dialled in - chain cut to correct length etc - under an hour to get it out of the box and onto the road.

I agree with you that £30 is worth the cost of having it built. I was just stating my preference. There's enjoyment to be had from putting it together and the confidence of knowing that it has been done properly.

thanks all for your help..good food for thought. I think pushing the boat out a bit and maybe going for the cube agree pro might be the way to go, to minimise upgrade fever later on..cheers
