What to wear to a BBQ/party?

    Would love some advice/opinions/tips on this.

    Going to a BBQ next week and Im really not sure what to wear.Its in the evening and Im planning on wearing dressy flip flops with whatever I wear. (Thats all I have decided on)

    What kind of outfit should I wear? Im 5' 6 and about a size 14 in most things, anyone see anything nice in the shops? Just hoping someone will virtually dress me as Im at a loss :o:)

    I was at a bbq on Sunday and wore a maxi dress. Not sure if that's the kind of thing you're looking for?

    Kinda hard to figure what to be wearing when invited to BBQ's these days, i was at one last week and spent most part in a conservatory:D

    Just seen this on Dorothy Perkins £45 would be nice with some gold accessories a little cardie (in case) and brown or gold sandals.

    Thanks for the replies, bought a new outfit in Awear but when i tried it on before the party it just didnt work. So in the end I went for a navy skirt with thick whites stripes (just above the knee), navy tank top, red and white gingham mini cardigan and white leather thong flip flops with a small white ribbon on each. Was casual but pretty so I was happy! Great night too!! :DThanks again:)

    So how was the Barbecue?

    I like my lady to wear Maxi Dresses.. she's slim enough, but rather short, and so it sometimes certain styles don't come off.

    I bought her the one here http://www.frenchconnection.com/category/Woman++Collections+Dresses/Dresses.htm (Bottom row, the dress on the right) and it looked superb. It's not often I buy women's clothes and get it right, so I feel quite chuffed!!
