this is for land use, not roads etc. . .
will not be taxed or insured nor tested. ..
obviously it will be commercial, , , hardly want the family down the feilds with me.. .

so come on lads. . . .€500,. .. . what would you most likely go for? or get. . . .

looking for just a run around farm vehicle, . .. back to the sheds, around the land etc. . . .

I would buy €500 worth of trouble and heartache.

Even given that it is not for road use, for 500 snots all you are buying is something is going to break your balls.

    feck the begrudgers,

this is a great thread.there is mighty value out there, just because its gone over 100k miles dont mean its dead.

I would go for an isuzu trooper old type,2.8 a great yoke all around.

yes they do rust and over the rear axle usually breaks but they are well worth the hassle and will start day in,day out

€500 will buy you nothing but grief.

Realistically, if you want a reliable & safe 4x4, budget 2.5 - 3K. This will pick up a cripple for 1K, allow for the work to get it sorted, through a test and put decent rubber under it. You'll get years out of it at that stage.

Take the pain up front... not on a drip.

i got an 1990 trooper for farm use back in January for €450, its got a little bit of rust but is mechanically perfect, i also have a road going pajero and the trooper starts much faster.

So i advise look out for one of these brill machine, really good fun aswell on muddy roads in 2wd:D

a old land rover series 3.
for that much money somthing will go wrong very quick at least with a series 3 it will be a relitavly simple and cheap fix esp if you have a small toolset and dont mind getting greasy. not to mention pleanty of helpfull forums online devoted to them. i have one i got for under 3K and use it ever week to get to and from work and have never had to spend more than €200 a year on parts and service items :D...... so far

how does 3k equate to 500. any lr you buy for 500 will be aluminium sitting on RUST.

i know its bit over budget but heres my 2 cents http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2412703
