Applications for Masters Courses...600 words??

Hi I am applying for a Masters in NUIG (Economic and Environmental Modelling), I finished my undergrad some years ago but resulted with a 3H in Actuarial and Financial Studies as a result of a number of repeat exams in my final 2 years. Therefore as I am only providing the transcripts with final(averaged) results my application appears weak.

I am still going to proceed with the application(though probably in vain) however I have no idea what I should be writing to comprise my 600 words.
Presumably I need to discuss how my undergrad is relevant to the Masters course but what sort of tone do people normally assume in these applications???
Aside from desperation and a little begging I am unsure what I need to include in order to convince the course administrators that I am capable and willing to work to get the best results I can in a course that really really interests me!

    Any inspiration most welcome!
