Hi there I want to buy a sniper rifle as a present and dont know where to start.

First of all price determines a lot in or around the €200 mark.
    Whats needed.
    Good quality piece.
    Good range.
    Accurate.
    Scope and stand.
    Upgradeable parts??

    My knowledge is nil.

    Hopefully someone can help me.
    It must be brand new.
Even if someone could suggest a trusthworthy retailer.

    Many Thanks

im not an expert but for the 200 you are willing to spend asking a scope and a bipod might be a tad of a far stretch.

    check the ones below:

there are more retailers under Airsoft Retailers. Keep in mind that the rifles are heavy and shipping is usually not cheap specially if they are from abroad.

you ll need to consider what you looking for example a springer/gas/electric?
each category has pros and cons for example springers are usually cheaper than rest.

And you can always pick up a used one. some have really nice paint jobs and are already with a mount and a bipod and some times gun bag or they are even with upgraded parts.

    Hope i was a tad helpful :D

The JG BAR-10 would be a nice sniper rifle in this price range, it has plenty of upgrade parts availible as its a clone of the TM vsr (i think).

Comes with a scope and is avalible in SE Airsoft here

I can't really comment on the linked sniper rifle, but there are quite a few upgrade parts for the BAR-10, the upgrades would improve range, accuracy and consistency.

Thanks I may go for the bar10.
You yourself would be happy with the bar10?

    I really appreciate your help

I would be happy with getting one, but thats because I'd like something that I can have a go at upgrading.

I'm sure there are other snipers to consider but this would be my first choice in the 200 price range.

I think I'll go for this and hope they like it I'll see how much bread I can put together to maybe buy some upgrades are they expensive and where can I get them

check out this video. they are comparing one springer and 2 electric ones. you will learn a few basics. i cant recommend one cause its about what you or in your case what your friend likes. there are so many things to go through if i would recommend one that would probably make you think that late at nights i get on my roof and shoot innocent people :D on top of that as i said im no expert im new to airsoft as well. and the biggest point that i ve come to realise going through endless threads is that there is no such thing as an "airsoft sniper rifle" its just a slick looking musket ( copyright goes to whoever came up with the line :D). To get you on the right way i would just say do not expect to buy a sniper rifle and go to a site and be "death from a far far far place near you".The sniper role (and im using it loosely so people don't flame me) is more about running your ass off to get a good spot, remain well covered and as much motionless humanly possibly, pick your shots carefully and other things that more seasoned players can go into detail. But i can tell you plinking with my "sniper rifle" puts an ear-to-ear smile every single time :D

+1 to this, mine was only a suggestion, you or your friend should hold the rifle first and if possible try some different ones at a site.

As with the upgrades I would suggest playing with it and seeing what you would like to improve, many will change the hop-up rubber with a firefly rubber and the barrel with a tightbore.

Would rifle have better power range accuarcy apperently after 50 shots or slow the bbs slow down and go really fast with new gas

if you got the time go through this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056064554
although its for a complete dif issue lots of the seasoned players are talking regarding "sniper rifles" and their use on the field and i must admit its an eye opener and really changed my view on the "sniper rifle" issue.

    Great thread thanks

It seems all guns have the same poer and range??????

So a sniper rifle would not be any more powerfull than the existing pistol?

Any part that is worth upgrading, in a bar10, can be. its a direct clone of the vsr10, arguably one of the best airsoft sniper rifle chassis in the world.

The well is.... ok... but its not as upgradable as the bar10, and its not as tough or reliable.

The extra cash can sometimes be worth it... in sniper rifles, its paramount.

If you want it accurate, upgradable and 'decent' be prepared to spend a lot after the rifle... sniper rifles are money pits :P

My maruzen type 96 is topping a grand.

I've been playing a long time, and I've had a lot of different systems... not all at once.

Anyway, I still have both Kidneys, I just sold my liver... I was going to destroy it with booze anyway, Might as well get some good use out of it.
