Hi, just got some partworn tyres, and compared to partworns i got previously, there seems to be very little thread. Is there a "norm" for what should be sold in this instance?

Im not aware theres any legal spec of what qualifies as minimum depth to be sold, I suppose once they are road legal at 1.6mm theres nothing to take them off the road.

Where did you get them from? Did they say anything like "tyres will have 2 mm on them" or similar?

I'm really not trying to be a smart4rse, but if these tyres have so little tread compared to ones you got before then why did you buy them ?

Done deal now I'd say. What size?

Any time I get them I make sure they're a top brand with lots of tread left. Anything with less than halfleft or a budget tyre is a false economy.

Anywhere I've gone has invited me to inspect the tyres before fitting.

Previously when I purchased off him, he said they would be 4mm on them, as was a repeat order so to speak, I assumed it would be the same, but there is less then 2 left. Additionally the size isnt the exact size promised ( assumed he actually put the right bloody sizes on). As the tyre are obviously wrong, I'm tempted to just ask for my money back and the old rubber back on and take my business elaewhere.

Go back. The wrong size alone is grounds for that.

Sounds like stuff that should be thrown away rather than tyres hes actually bought in.

They're buying them for about 4 euro each, so asking for replacements isn't exactly going to bankrupt him.

Less than 2mm  Sure the minimum by law is 1.6mm, your old tyres shouldn't have been much worse than the "new" ones. Bring them back defo.
