    Afternoon,

Just wondering if you guys might point me in the right direction,

I picked up a golf tdi 1.9 last october (first registered mar 2007)and she had a first service done Sep 08 at 19k (miles).

then antother at 38k in jan 2010, both with long life service

I rang a garage thinking that I should have one done before the NCT(just in case- he told me no need).

But now, I wondering surely the filters need changing at this stage, currently
    50k miles .

any advice appreciate, with my old car, i just serviced it every year before winter, no questions asked, but they said with long life service no need,

    Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance

She's due a timing belt at 60k afaik.

If the last service was done over a year ago you are overdue a service now.

Service intervals should be based on time as well as mileage.

Also, are you sure you need a diesel (probably closing the door after the horse has bolted) but 12k miles in 18 months wouldnt exactly be diesel mileage.

I know there's the longlife servicing but for my 2 oil changes in 50,000 miles is asking for trouble. Get an oil and filter done every year, you'd get it done in a VW main dealer with good oil for €119 or a bit less elsewhere.

Thanks I figured timing belt would be due alright.

Yes will book in for a service before the end of the month..... Reckon pollen filters are filthy too.

well I got the diesel for 11k stg and I nearly bought the 1.6 petrol which was 10k so split thedifference and got this one for 10.5k (cousin in the trade), but was delighted,

i've had it since oct 2010, well nov really was on hols for most of oct and when i got it there was 42, so I've done 8 so far, but i'm not driving nowhere near as much as I used to, I miss it in a way, (it was my head space time), and will prob do another 8 before end of year is out.

Holy schmoke! I've a 13 year old car and no way would leave it that far between servicing. And I change everything everytime. Minimum should be once a year. Especially with a turbo. I'd get a full service if I were you including filters.

There are some good offers on full services these days, worth it for piece of mind.
