Dock leaf to nettle sting

Does it work for you? There are plenty of scientific scienticians saying its a load of tripe because they cant identify any mechanism as to how it would work but it certainly works for me.

Decided to not bother with the dock leaf after getting stung yesterday and it itched till I got up this morning and used a dock leaf on it. If I use a dock leaf in the first few minutes after getting stung it won't bother me for that long.

In a few years there might well be an article in the Daily Fail called 'Dock leaf mystery' finally solved but until then all the science boffins are only ould bluffers

I only walk on flower petals as my many gardeners refuses to let such weeds grow - so I can't comment on what effect ye common people.

The cooling sensation of the dock leaf is immeasurable!

It never worked for me as a kid, but I'd still always put one on out of habit, and probably just out of a desire to stop the stinging even though I knew it wouldn't work.
I think the coolness of the leaf would give a mild sense of relief for a few seconds until it warmed up by holding it against your skin, but nothing more than that.

"The dock leaf contains chemicals that when rubbed over the sting neutralise it and also cool the skin down." - Natural History Musuem

There's a white goo inside the steams that I squeeze out and rub on the stings.

Yes. We're not talking about semen if that's what you're suggesting. Is it?

Splitting the stem and using the juice usually works better than just rubbing the leaves.... (no dirty jokes please ;))

They're also great for stopping bleeding after you shave since they're mildly astringent.

I was always told to spit on the dock leaf before rubbing it on the sting. I was stung recently and couldn't find a dock leaf so I just rubbed spit on the sting and it worked just as well.
