Arts-Music 1st year

    Hi,

I failed the listening and literacy module of first year arts-music. I passed the other two modules, giving me an overall percentage of 50%.

However, as I failed L+L, I have failed overall.

Do I have to repeat L+L? Or do I pass by compensation?
Or, even worse, do I have to repeat the entire year over this one module?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm a tad freaked atm!

You have to pass listening and literacy to progress to 2nd year. This means that you definately have to repeat. I dont know if you cant repeat this module in August as it's continuous assessment. What parts of the module did you fail?

I failed the Homework and CA (term 1), I passed the three other parts of the module but that first term dragged me down to an overall fail.

    God, sorry, I don't know.
When we were doing that, it was marked upon CA term 1, CA term 2 and practica musica.
Email your lecturer asap and find out if you can repeat over summer by re-submitting the assignments from semester 1 so you can continue on to 2nd year in September.
If not, I assume that you will then have the option to repeat just the module over the following year ie. attending those classes and doing the assignments or simply repeating the whole year.

According to the book of marks and standards, you have to pass all 60 credits of your modules to progress on. Sorry, wish i could be of more help. Definately send emails to Mel Mercier and to the L&L lecturer anyway. (Mel will proberly give a speedier reply). Good luck!!
