    Hi all ,

looking for a bit of info.

The missus got the bullet from work today, she was part time sna in a primary school.

I am in secure full time job,is she entitled to JSB or does my income affect this.We also have a 3 year old if that makes any difference.

Also any idea of the waiting time to receive benefits and how much it currently is.

    Cheers for any info

Jobseekers Benefit is not means tested, so your income will not affect her rate of payment.

If you are earning more than 310 Euro a week, she will not however be able to claim an increase for a dependent spouse. Between 100-310 she will get a reduced increase for you. Below 100 she'll get a full increase for you. Full increase for a dependent spouse is 124.80

If you are earning more than 400, then she will not be able to claim for any children that you have. Between 310-400 she'll get a half rate for each child. Below 310, she'll get a full rate for each child. Full rate for a dependent child is 29.80

Also, check out whether your income makes you eligible for FIS now that she is not working. http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/BirthChildrenAndFamilies/ChildRelatedPayments/Pages/fis.aspx

You can get FIS and your wife still claim Jobseekers Benefit, although she won't be able to have you on her claim if this is the case. If you are anywhere near the limits of FIS let us know and someone can do the calculations for you to see how to maximise your social welfare entitlement.
