Hello ladies, and maybe some men....

Im looking to buy my missus some MAC makeup for our anniversary. I checked online and seen that they have a store in BT in dublin but doesnt show if they do like bundles etc, does anyone know if they do makeup kits or will i have to try and buy seperately?

    Cheers!

    :)

thats so cute! my fella would never attempt buying something like that for me.
they do sets but usually its an eye set or a lip set so you'll have a couple of eyeshadows together or a group of glosses etc. they do brush sets as well. the assistants should be able to help you choose individual items if you describe her hair colour, skin tone, eye colour etc? or if you know she likes a natural or a more dramatic look.
there is a blonde girl called tammy in mac on mon/tue who has done my makeup before, shes really nice, if you can find her she'll help you!

I think instead of buying makeup, you should buy her a few MAC brushes instead. Don't bother with the brush sets - they aren't as good as the individual brushes. Now they are expensive, but they are very worth it.

You could start with a foundation brush, blusher brush, powder brush, etc.

I agree that the brush sets are not as good quality as the individual brushes but I wouldn't buy all individual brushes either unless you think she'd be really into that. Instead I'd get maybe 1 or 2 brushes, a lipstick, a blush, a couple of eyeshadows (or a quad of them) and a fluidline eyeliner or something like that. I would not get foundation or similar skin products (you would likely get the wrong colour or formula). Mac is very expensive so you can take away or add products depending on your budget. You could put those in a basket and make a nice little hamper out of it. Most of the girls will be very helpful and will help you pick colours etc depending on her colouring and anything you can tell them about how she currently wears makeup (eg. more natural or dramatic).

the brushes are brilliant but a bit practical for a romantic present? i would think it'd be nicer to get a set, like the previous poster said, tell the staff her colouring etc and they'll help you, just my thoughts... lucky girl;)

If your buying MAC products you might need to know her skintone and colours she likes to ear/suit her. Just because it's MAC doesn't mean all women will wear whatever.

As far as brushes go, they are very dear and while worth it. A whole set can be upwards of 200 quid, I would recommend Sigma brushes. They are basically as good as MAC for a fraction of the cost.

HOWEVER (sorry to go on), if you are dead set on MAC then make sure you do your homework and don't just buy her something for the sake of it and it be a waste. Get it right and find something she will adore, MAC isn't the be all and end all of make up.

    Good luck!

maybe bring in a sample of the foundation she currently uses and once you describe her eye colour and hair etc they should be able to recommend something.

Id love if my fella did this!:)
