re Tax Fine when tax is paid just not displayed

Hi,

I live in the City Centre, don't use car much really during the week. Our tax is fully paid up to date but unknown to us the disk fell out of the damaged holder and we got 2 tickets for no tax. I know the fines are for not displaying tax disc as opposed not having tax but just wondering what the likelihood of appealing it successfully is or just if anyone had any experience. Seems a bit harsh to charge somebody for not displaying a disc if tax is paid.

Was the tax disc still visible from outide even though it wasn't in the holder? It must be visible, doesn't have to be in the holder, if it was still visible than appeal it

Who was it issued by? In my experience the Guards will usually cancel it if you write to them with a copy of the tax disc

No you couldn't see the disc it had slipped fully down. We didn't even see the two tickets - both in same week and just hadn't used the car.
